Like McDs, this other American icon is popping up all over Europe. There are two within walking distance of our language school! But as you might guess, the prices for a cup of coffee (or a chai tea latte, which we prefer!) are considerably higher than in the U.S. After discovering that one grande chai costs nearly $6.50, we decided that homemade chai tastes just as good!

Breaking the budget for coffee

Here, here! Jan and I discovered yesterday that even in our own Starbucks, the cappucino is getting lighter in the cup, i.e., more like air than coffee. And it was $3-4 something. Jan makes the best coffeeesque items for miles around anyway, so we, too, are going off the mall stuff.
When we were in Belgium, we had a Pizza Hut down the street. We thought that was great and made it a Friday thing. Then we realized we were spending $40 for pizza and drink for the 3 of us...ouch. However, since we had a young teen, we compromised and made an every other Friday thing.
I love reading about your adventures!
